Does your blog make you any money? [open before midnight]

Hi, there's always differing opinions on whether you should have ads on your blog or not, and indeed what type of ads even work... IMHO (and experience, based on testing) having an optin (or three) on your blog is the most important thing to get done, you should always be building your list first! However, having related affiliate ads can bring in some easy cash as well, especially in some Niches. The real question is what type of ads work best in this age of 'ad blindness'? We're all so used to banner ads (and variations of) that they don't tend to grab our attention very often, and if your ad isn't noticed there's little chance of it being clicked (or of you making any money)! Of course there's a pretty simple way of working out what is working right now, just take a look at the most popular, high traffic sites, especially those that rely on ad clicks as their primary source of income... The people running these sites are constantly testing new ad types to see what is most effective, and which type of ads and placement make them the most income.
